Description
La Vie de Notre Seigneur Jésus Christ. Edition nationale. "A distinguished Pre-Raphaelite artist, Tissot's inspiration for his remarkable biblical illustrations comes from his transformative religious experience in the Parisian church of Saint-Sulpice in 1885. It caused him to abandon his successful life as a painter of British and French society life to travel to Egypt, Syria, and Palestine in 1886–1887, and again in 1889 where he visited all of the Holy sites. The ultimate goal of these travels was to produce a series of paintings for an illustrated biography of Jesus, and his later illustrated monumental Bible. Jolies reliures décoratives.
