Dans ces lettres, il décrit la guerre contre les armées de la République vue du côté de l'émigration, le projet de liaison avec l'armée de Charette, la tentative d'un débarquement, etc. Gand, 17 juin 1794 : «The duke of York has accorded to me the place which I wanted an I believe it is so much over to your recomandation. [...] I am in a régiment with great many friends of mine and this is a great consolation to me. [...] The french army very numerous is now before Ypres an menaces Ostend and Bruges and Gant [...] The french are before Charleroi not far from Bruxelles, [...] The frenchloss great many men officiers canon and are repulsed almost every day of battle. Southampton, 31 août 1795 : Il évoque l'impossibilité d'avoir des troupes anglaises dans une expédition en Bretagne avec le comte d'Artois. Il évoque la possibilité de son décès et demande à son correspondant d'assister sa famille. - Southampton, 2 septembre 1795: Depuis qu'il est ici, il a eu le temps de rencontrer tous les anglais et français qui sont ici. « All our regiments come from Germany.
