Large in-f° : xi-[1]-64 pp.; 99 pl.
Contemporary binding : half brown shagreen with dark green shagreen corners, boards of brown buckram encircled with a gilt fillet, gilt titled flat spine (scratches, especially on the stained lower board, turn ins rubbed, small lacks, corners strongly dulled).

FIRST EDITION according most of the booksellers but the BNF lists (wrongly ?) an edition published in 1889. The 99 plates (20 in colour) figure facsimiles of the papyri or hieroglyphic transcripts. The text pages contains the transcriptions of the papyri of Hunefer, Anhai, Kerasher and Netchemet, translations and explanations of scenes represented. The English egyptologist and orientalist Budge (1857-1934) made numerous trips to Egypt and Sudan to buy antiquities for the British Museum.
