Description
In-f° : engr. title and 40 pl. protected by tissue guards (copy slightly yellowed, tissue guards browned, foxing, numerous to some pl. or pp., one tissue guard lacking, small marginal dampstain at the end, rare marginal tears).
Modern binding : bradel green cloth, flat spine with gilt title and central fleuron (scratches, turn ins rubbed, corners slightly dulled).
Second edition complete (1st ed. : 1843) illustrated after the author's drawings with lithographies "on zinc" (cfr notes on some plates) : 1 title printed in three tints and gold, 40 tinted plates (one printed in three colours) and 67 wood-engravings in the text. The author, member of the Athenian Archeological Society and the Egyptian Society of Cairo, undertook this journey from April 1841 to June 1842.
