Description
In-f° : [408 (of 428)] lvs (copy incomplete of 20 lvs in the beginning but the 6 first are usually missing, second portrait missing, dampstains, some large, marginal tears more often dued to waterstaining, some margins repaired, marginal wormholes, some lvs slightly yellowed, stains, a few big, hole in the lf. Giii).
18th Century Italian (?) binding : red morocco, gilt decorated ribbed spine, marbled edges (spine faded, wormholes, lacks in two rectangular designs, lower turn in broken, scratches, upper joint rubbed, corners strongly dulled, wormholes in the pastedowns and flyleaves, sligthly trimmed).

FIRST EDITION, FIRST ISSUE published in the second issue and later editions under the title "Historia co[n]tinente da lorigine di Milano tutti li gesti, fatti, e detti preclari, e le cose memorande [...]". Most important work of the historian Corio (1459-1519) presenting the history of Milan from its origins till the escape of Ludovico Sforza in Germany in 1500. Followed by a biography of emperors and kings from Julius Caesar to Enrico IV. Illustrated with two portraits of the author : one full-page and one of him holding his shield at the end of the work. Exstensive errata (6 pp.).
Copy incomplete of 20 leaves but those, including the full-page Virtue figure, are all restored delicately by hand. This copy also contains several marginalia composed of key words and dates written by a hand from Piacenza in 1587 (cfr handwritten note on the verso of last leaf).

IHFZ Edizione originale, prima tiratura della famosa storia di Milano di Corio. Esemplaro incompleto delle 20 prime ff. restituiti alla mano (fig. della Vertù inclusa) e con varie marginalia datati di Piacenza 1587. Pieno marrochino rosso ottocentesco (macchie d'acqua, alcuni grandi, diffetti, fori di tarli...).
IHFZ Édition originale de première émission de cette histoire de Milan. Ex. incomplet des 20 premiers ff. restitués à la main (y compris la figure de la Vertu) et nombreuses marginalia datées de Piacenza 1587. Plein maroquin rouge du 18e s. (mouill., qqs-unes larges, défauts, galeries ou trous de vers...).
