Second posthumous edition (1st ed. : Amsterdam, 1743), but first with the commentaries of Solomon Dubno, of the evocative play of Luzzatto entirely in Hebrew. This work reflects the author's experience and the persecution he suffered at the time of controversy around him. Luzzatto (1707-1746), also known by his Hebrew acronym Ramhal, was an outstanding Italian rabbi, kabbalist and philosopher. When he was twenty, he received instructions from a "maggid" (a mystic voice) and taught his lessons, appreciated by his followers but not by the Italian rabbinical authorities because of the messianic message containted in them. After many threats of excommunication, he left for Amsterdam where he worked as a diamond cutter and pursued his Kaballah studies.
