Description
Double-page woodcut map, German text on verso, with glossary of Latin words. This new world map was prepared for the 1550 ed. of Münster's "Geographia", replacing the map which had appeared in editions of the "Cosmographia" and "Geographia" from 1540 onwards. It is an oval projection surrounded by clouds and wind-heads with their names in banners. In the oceans are depicted wales & sea monsters. The continents are in rough outline. In the lower left corner the woodcutter's initials DK (David Kandel).
