Description
Parisiis, apud Michaelem Sonnium, 1581. 2 parts in 1 vol. in-f° : [4]-536, 501-[69] pp. (last blank lf. of 2d part lacking, foxing, underlinings, marginal handwritten notes -some extended and 1 in French-, stamps, marginal wormholes, lower corner lacking at p. 23, some marginal dampstains at the end of 2d part). Contemporary binding : vellum, decorated boards with blind fillets and angular fleurons, ribbed spine, title with pen on the spine and the tail-edge (slightly used, corners repaired, wormholes on the spine, 2 bands reinforced, vellum partly torn at the lower part of the spine). Edition given by the theologian Jean Dadré of Eusebius' famous works on the superiority of the Christianim over all pagan religions, the personality of Jesus Christ, history (of Church and the world from Abraham to Constantine), Apollonius of Tyana (considered in the 4th cent. as Jesus Christ) and Constantine the Great. Eusebius (c. 263-339), historian, exegete, Christian polemicist and scholar Biblical canon, became bishop of Cesarea in 314. He is considered as the father of Church History as his writings are very important for the first three centuries of the Christianity.
