Description
Latin manuscript on paper, c. 17,5 x 11,5 cm, mod. half morocco, marbl. covers (worming in blank bottom corner, top corner of last f. repaired), [15] ff. (lacking final f. with 2 prayers), written in black ink within ruled border. In good condition. Well-written ms. of a collection of liturgical prayers (Inc. “Summe sacerdos et vere pontifex”), often ascribed to St Ambrose or St Augustine, but now attributed to the Italian-Norman Benedictine John of Fécamp (d. 1079). It is here followed by “Oratio (...) ad honorem quinque plagarum christi” (prayers 4-5 lacking). Titles rubricated; penwork initials in red, green and brown.
