Description
miscellaneis".
Tournai ?, Latin manuscript on paper, c. 24 x 18,5 cm, cont. calf (covers scratched), gilt spine on 5 raised bands (head & tail def.), a.e.g., marbl. endpapers, [8]-143-[9] pp. (pp. 131-136 torn out, tear in pp. 129-130, wormtrack in blank bottom margin of last ff.), all written in black/brown ink. In very good condition. Well-written copy of a collection of Latin verses in epigraphic style on the actions of Louis XIV and France in the years 1638-1705, compiled by the Tournai Dominican Gregorius de le Wincque (d. 1711). A similar copy is now Paris, BnF, Ms. Latin 6216 (perhaps the presentation copy from the royal collection in Versailles). The date “1675” on the titlepage probably refers to the start of the composition of the text.
