FIRST EDITION of the volume II of this work written by Murdoch (1856-1921), Scottish journalist, with the contribution of Isoh Yamagata.
Illustrated with 9 maps coloured in outline. Deals with the Portuguese jesuits bringing Christianity into Japan, the rivalry between Spanish and Portuguese, the English East India Company, the peace negociations between Japan and China, etc.
The first volume is about the arrival into Japan of the Portuguese and the third published posthumously in 1926 on the Tokugawa or Edo epoch (1652-1868).
Copy numbered 66 without indication of the issue.
