UNIQUE ÉDITION de ce TRÈS RARE OUVRAGE relatant une des premières missions chrétiennes au Kentucky. Badin (Orléans 1768-1853 Cincinnati) est le premier prêtre catholique à avoir été ordonné aux États-Unis le 25 mai 1793, par John Carroll, pionnier du catholicisme aux États-Unis. Pendant 14 ans, il sillonna seul la contrée pour apporter les sacrements aux catholiques jusqu'à l'arrivée de l'abbé Charles Nerincks, d'origine flamande. Badin revint en France pour recueillir des fonds puis retourna dans cet état où il continua sa mission jusque peu avant son décès.

Rare work on one of the earliest mission in Kentucky where the priester Badin immigrated after the French Revolution. He perfected his English in Georgetown College, settled down in Scott Country and went to Kentucky for his missionary works alone for 14 years forming new congregations and building churches. In 1806 he received help form a Flemish Belgian priester. In 1819 he went back to France for 9 years after a misunderstanding with bishop Flaget and then returned in America, tooked charge of the Monroe mission in Michigan and finally went back to Kentucky. With a letter from Mgr Flaget in which he asks him to come back. Full modern paper binding (title-page slightly waterstained).
