RARE ORIGINAL ILLUSTRATED EDITION. Important work in which the eminent Jesuit mathematician explains the operation and the laws that regulate the action of the Archimedean screw, also called the cochlea, the device used to lift a liquid or a sandy material or crushed. In order to perform this study Jacopo Belgrade went to Venice where he built several augers in various materials, including a glass that allowed him to observe the movement of water into the lives and perform several experiments. Then he tried to solve the 'paradox' of the cochlea through the geometric analysis of its structure and the formulation of its operation mathematics.
