Autographed copy of the author's daughter, Sophie Plana, on 'half-title of the first volume and the additional volume: the work is donated to Cavalier Alessandro Dorna, Chairman of the Académie des Sciences and Director of the' Royal Observatory of Turin. This monumental work is the result of a vast amount of astronomical calculations: in the nineteenth century, the question of the motion of the Moon continued to play a significant interest, not only as a special case of the movement of the three bodies, but also for eminently practical reasons , first of which the calculation of longitudes at sea.
