Renewed and augmented edition (1st ed. 1718) of this crucial work by the German anatomist and surgeon Lorentz Heister (1683-1759), considered as the founder of scientific surgery. Divided in 3 parts on injuries, operations and bandages.

With its many translations it bridged the gap between academic science and practical medicine for example in making obstetrics an official part of surgery.
