Contemporary binding : limp vellum, flat spine with title in pen (slightly soiled but intact). Second edition (princeps : Louvain, J. Bogard, 1597) of this supplement to Ptolemy's (100-168) "Cosmographia" by the secretary of the Council of Brabant, Cornelius van Wytfliet (died 1597). His "Descriptionis" was the first separately published atlas with all the maps entirely devoted to America. Contains an engraved title within an architectural frame with personifications, a world map in 2 hemispheres and 18 particular maps, all mounted, on Chili, Peru, Brazil, Cuba, Florida...
