Gaspart, français né en Argentine (1900-1993), se lie d'amitié avec Pierre-Albert Birot, André Derain, Jean Follain, Marie Laurencin, André Salmon et Torres-Garcia. C'est durant ses années de captivité, durant la guerre, qu'il révèle tout son talent. Je sais que c'est le moment de réaliser mes meilleures choses. Plus je fais, plus je vois de choses à faire. Et pour cette raison, malgré les difficultés, je ne me suis pas arrêté, et j'ai fait encore des choses très bonnes... J'ai foi.
