Rare édition des Six Livres de Politique ou de
Doctrine Civile de Juste Lipse, sans aucun doute l'un des plus grands érudits du XVIe siècle. Professeur à l'Université de Leyde, philologue et humaniste, il a également enseigné à Louvain et Jena. Son admiration pour les classiques l'amena à récupérer l'oeuvre des stoïciens en la faisant connaître à ses contemporains. Il est donc considéré comme le promoteur du néo-stoïcisme, une philosophie qui s'applique, le cas échéant, à l'oeuvre que nous présentons.
Peu d'exemplaires du Politicorum sive civilis doctrinae libri sex circulent (encore moins avec les Notae).

Rare edition of the Six Books of Politics or Civil
Doctrine by Justus Lipsius, undoubtedly one of the greatest scholars of the 16th century. Professor at the University of Leiden, philologist and humanist, he also taught in Leuven and Jena. His admiration for the classics led him to recover the work of the Stoics by making it known to his contemporaries. He is therefore considered to be the promoter of neo-stoicism, a philosophy that applies, if need be, to the work we are presenting.
Few copies of the Politicorum sive civilis doctrinae libri sex are in circulation (even less with the Notae).
