Description
3 French children's prints used for teaching young children in a playful way : Divers sujets indisqués (...) pour l'instruction et l'amusement de la jeunesse. Each ill. showing professions and popular characters has its title in 4 languages (French, Latin, Italian and German), printed in different types intending to teach the various types as well (old rest. at back). Depicted characters are i.a. a fortune-teller, a harlequin, the Wandering Jew etc. - Les amis de la Joie. Les Bons enfans du Bastringue. Print with musicians playing and people dancing. "La Bastringue" was an old French folkdance. - Jean Bon, (- des Vignes, - le Gros, - Farine, - Pâte, -relève sa culotte, - Manche, - Broche). The pictures that could be cut out and mounted on cardboard to play with depict a fisherman, a wine seller, a fat man, a man pulling up his trousers etc.
