En outre, il faut dire que ce dernier travaillait sur une version plus ancienne, sans connaître les variantes proposées par Estienne. Le conflit se termina par une transation: Jean de Serres maintint sa version, Henri Estienne la critiquait éventuellement dans la marge extérieure et le traducteur pouvait se défendre dans l’autre marge.” (GLIN).
