Description
pl. (some marginal foxing or spots). Publisher's binding : full white & light blue paper on cardboard (used, joins partly split). First edition written by an ornemental gardener (1780-1831) residing at Huttersfield. With the patronage of the sixth Duke of Bedford, to whom the book is dedicated, Pontey worked hard to encourage and improve the practices of replanting trees and forest management in the English estates. The book is illustrated with 8 plates of which 3 are folding and 4 heightened. Reprint in 1805 and 1810. ▲ Provenance : James Gilson of Ingliston (ex-libris).
