(the view of the Temple is missing, small foxing, some small dampstains, several corners restored, some illustrations censored). 17th Century binding : calf, gilt stamped ribbed spine with title label (soiled, some parts restored, wormholes in spine). Important Plantinian edition of the new revision of the Vulgata by the theologians of the University of Leuven (1st ed. : 1574). Illustrated with 93 (of 94) copper-engravings : title within an architectural frame, 3 maps by Arias Montanus (Terra Israel, Terra Canaan, world-map), 1 plan of the Temple of Jerusalem, 7 full-pages and 81 in texto by Abraham de Bruyn, Jan Sadeler and Joannes Wiericx after Crispin van den Broeck and Pieter van der Borcht. The title-page, the 4 plates and the 7 full-pages had already served in the Polygot Bible (1 568-1 573).
