Contemporary binding : pigskin on wooden boards, boards decorated with several blind tooled roll-stamps, ribbed spine in deerskin fixed with brass strips, brass clasps (central medallion lacking, some parts restored). Roman Catholic Bible translation (1st ed. : 1534), but with the Epistles and the Apocalypse in Luther's version, by the Dominican friar Johann Dietenberger (c. 1475- 1537). Illustrated with more than 100 woodcuts, mostly signed Virgil Solis, within ornamental frames.
