I, some discharges due to engravings, rare handwritten notes in the margins, afew pages slightly browned). 19th Century binding : glazed pink calf, gilt supra libros set by ablind roll-stamp with palm leaf designs and agilt fillet, ribbed spine set by gilt fillets decorated with central gilt fleurons (mask, trumpet...) and with green leather labels, sprinkled edges (spines slightly darker, wormholes on the spine of vol. Ii, some scratches or parts slightly rubbed, copy slighy trimmed). Second edition (1st ed. : 1797-1798) given by the biographer and bibliographer Pellicer (1738-1806), the ninth volume being the biography of Cervantes. Illustrated with an allegorical frontispiece by Juan Moreno de Tejada after Luis Paret y Alc^zar, Cervantes portrait in a medallion by Tejada, 3 folding maps among which one figuring Don Quichotte's journey with borders heightened. Text in a neat typography decorated with 32 historiated head-pieces by Luis Paret y Alc^zar and Francisco Alc^ntara, engraved by Juan Moreno Tejada and Blas Ametller. The pages showing a head-piece contain the number of the page to which the illustration is referring.
