Description
Well executed representation of a violent naval fight picturing ships and boats with many belligerents. By L. Backhuysen (Emden, East Friesland 1630-Amsterdam 1708), one of the leading Dutch marine painters of the 17th c., renowned for his meticulous attention to the details of shipping and atmospheric evocation of maritime conditions.
