Beautiful collection of silhouette portraits by the German serviceman, artist and historian Anthing (1753-1805), repr. Weimar 1914. Complete with 100 engr. portraits (2 sets numb. 1-50, 1*-50*) each within a blank oval cartouche surrounded with coloured ornamental borders, some with figures and landscapes. I.a. portraits of George III (England), Emperors Joseph II and Leopold II, Henri IV and Louis XVI (France), Marie Antoinette, Willem V of Orange, Popes Clement XIV and Pius VI, Frederick II (Prussia), Catharina II (Russia), Count Cobenzl, George Washington.
