Dutch trsl. by Van Broekhuizen (fl. 1681-1708) of the "Histoire de France" of Mézeray (1610-1683). Extra-illustrated copy with 179 engr. portraits and 51 skilfully pencil-drawn copies (17th-18th c.), showing many prominent people from the 16th-17th c. The "regular" portraits are engravings after Jan and Caspar Luyken. The extra engravings are portraits by H. Cock, N. de Clerc, P. de Jode (i.a. A. Spinola after Rubens), Th. de Leu, Meyssens, B. Moncornet, Sadeler, A. Wierix and others. Extensive cont. manuscript index of portraits at the end of each vol.
