Description
Very rare sheets of a larger collection prints most probably meant to illustrate a mythologial book and a book with emblems or idioms : in the middle of the leaf is printed a letter "F" and "M", which possibly indicates an order for the bookbinder. Under each ill. a caption in Dutch i.a. "Silveren eeuwe ofte eeste tyt des Vredes", "Daphne vluchtende voor Apollo, verandert in een laurier", "Argus met hondert oogen, wert van Mercurius (slapende) onthalst"., "t'is de rijckste die daer leeft, die genoecht met dat hij heeft", "Eerst gedaen en na bedacht heeft menich man in lij gebracht", "Die kan lijden en verdragen vint sijn vyander verslagen", etc.
