Description
In French. Letter from the 19th-c. Russian composer A. Dargomyzhsky (1813-1869) to Mr and Mrs Blaes. The friendship between the Belgian clarinetist A.-J. Blaes and Dargomyzhsky dates back to the early 1840s, while he was staying in St. Petersburg. This relation went on with the Russian composer's stay in Brussels in 1844, then with the second trip to Russia of Mr Blaes and his wife Elisa Meerti in 1847 and eventually, with Dargomïzhsky's second stay in Brussels in 1864-65. Dargomyzhsky writes about working on "l'affaire de mon opéra" probably meaning his opera "Rusalka" (1848-1855), about a music piece of Halevy, about the grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna of Russia and asks to give Mr and Mrs Fetis the best wishes.
