Weyerstraet, folio, cont. sheep (worn), spine on 5 raised bands, sp. edges, [16]-367-[13] pp. (paper age-toned and spotted, tears in folding plates mended, some marg. tears, some marg. or plates strengthened). In all a good copy.
French trsl. (1602-1680) of a major early work on China by the famous Jesuit polymath Kircher. “While one of his least original works, it was in many ways his most significant historically, being the first publication of important documents on oriental geography, geology, botany, zoology, religion and language” (Quaritch).
