Description
marbled endpapers, [14]-112 pp. (paper age-toned, some spotting, front flyleaf strengthened, tear in pl. "c" skilfully mended). Good copy. 
Edition by the Amsterdam physician Fontanus (fl. 1622-1644) of the shorter version of Vesalius’ masterwork. Prelims includes a short Latin play “Drama cercopithecium” (**1r-4v). Engr. ills : title, portrait of Vesalius (***1v), 1 folding engr, 38 (of 40) full-page pls (lacking pls "d" and "e") and 2 half-page engravings. Printed in 2 cols. Prize book, awarded on 28 July 1843 in the "schola veterinaria alfortiana", i.e. the French veterinary academy in (Maisons-)Alfort (Val-de-Marne).
