Description
Good, untrimmed copy.
A proclamation in the name of King Philip II of Spain addressed to the chancellor and members of the council of Brabant relating to foreign trade in the Netherlands. The Duke of Parma, governor of the Netherlands, was displeased at the non-observance of earlier edicts. He hereby imposes more stringent controls on the importation and sale of copper goods with any foreign component of "calmijn" (which seems to be cadmium, or calamine, a zinc ore). The proclamation also forbids the exportation of local metals, ore, opper and bronze, and touches on related issues. i.a. the problem of master metal workers who had fled the southern provinces. Gothic type.
