Rare Dutch trsl. of an originally Latin study about the indulgence of Portiuncula by the Franciscan Mathias Grouwels (1666-1730), lecturer in theology at Roermond and Leuven. Illustrated with 2 engravings by Bouttats: floor plan and perspective view of the basilica Santa Maria degli Angeli, originally a small chapel in the near of Assisi, named Portiuncula by S. Francis. Once a year, on the 2nd of August, the Portiuncula indulgence was granted in that chapel. This use was spread by the Franciscans over whole Europe. Ownership entry on front flyleaf.
