Later ed. (1st 1700) of the main work of Zeger Bernard van Espen (1646-1728), Louvain professor of canon law and defender of Gallican theories. It still is a basic text for our understanding of the workings of the Catholic Church in 17th-18th c. Europe, dealing with the duties of the clergy in all aspects. Title in red and black (vol. 1).
