Il reçoit avec une gaieté féroce la nouvelle que le tuteur de W. écrit des épigrammes, et est allemand : préfère-t- il la philosophie de KAnt ou de herder ? Connaît-il weishAupt ? Est-il un des Illuminati ? A-t-il le goût de la poésie teutonne ? Et qui préfère-t-il : Klopstock, Wieland, Kleist, Goethe, Burger, Lessing, Schiller, Lichtenberg ou Kotzebue ? Connaît-il le professeur Meiners ou ses études de la philosophie hellénique ? Est-il cranologiste, suiveur des Docteurs gAll et Camper ? A-t-il jamais voyagé en Griechenland ? Si oui, il mérite d'être un edler Mann, etc.
