[A2 ; B4]. Musica Transalpina est une collection de madrigaux publiés en Angleterre en 1588. Les madrigaux avaient traversé les Alpes dans le sens que la forme madrigal a été emprunté aux Italiens, et les pièces étaient principalement par les Italiens. Il est significatif pour marquer le début de l'âge d'or du madrigal en Angleterre. Musica transalpina contient 57 pièces séparées par 18 compositeurs, avec Alfonso Ferrabosco l'aîné ayant le plus, et Luca Marenzio secondes plus. Ferrabosco avait vécu en Angleterre dans les années 1560 et 1570, ce qui pourrait expliquer le grand nombre de ses compositions dans le livre; il était relativement inconnu en Italie.
