He received his small philosophical suite on the two principles ("diese Kleine philosophische Suite "Von den 2 Principien"), and he particularly appreciates its designation of musical rehearsal ("die Erwöhnung der musikalischen Wiederholung") as the second principle. But he fears that his little Masonic opera is as un-American as possible (" Dass Ihre kleine maurerische Zauberoper so unamerikanisch wie möglich ist"), and that it will have to be buried in a drawer until Europe opens up again to their meditations ("bis Europa für unsere Nachdenklichkeiten wieder off en ist").
