Plein veau marbré, plats aux armes de la ville de Paris cernés d'une dentelle sertie et fleurons en coins dorés, dos à nerfs orné aux fers de fleurs de lys, pièce de titre en maroquin bordeaux, tranches dorées, roulette intérieure dorée, gardes de papier marbré (reliure d'époque).
édition originale et unique, donnée à l'occasion du mariage par procuration de la fille aînée de Louis XV (âgée de 12 ans) avec Philippe de Bourbon (âgé de 19 ans), fils de Philippe V d'Espagne et fondateur de la Maison de Bourbon-Parme.
Belles illustrations gravées à l'eau-forte: grande vignette de titre par Soubeyran d'après Bouchardon, grand bandeau par Rigaud figurant l'ensemble de la joute nautique, lettrines répétées, et 13 grandes planches, dont 8 sur double-pages, dessinées et gravées par J.-F. Blondel, professeur à l'Académie d'architecture, Gabriel, Servandoni... Parmi celles-ci, les illuminations et feux d'artifice donnés sur la Seine devant le Louvre, les bateaux illuminés ou encore des coupes du bâtiment de l'Hôtel de ville de Paris avec des scènes de bal.
La fête eut lieu sur la Seine, entre le Pont-Neuf et le Pont-Royal, et accueillit une architecture éphémère, une joute nautique et, conçue pour être prolongée la nuit, rivalisa en jeux d'éclairages intérieurs et extérieurs, proposa des défilés de bateaux illuminés et un long spectacle pyrotechnique. Le lendemain, un bal masqué, donné dans l'Hôtel de ville, transformé et «reconstruit» pour l'événement, dura de 22h. à 8 h. du matin. Un peu plus tard, dans la même journée, Louise-élisabeth quittait sa jumelle, sa famille et Versailles pour rejoindre son mari en Espagne où elle se remaria le 30 octobre.

Full marbled calf, plates with the arms of the city of Paris surrounded by a set lace and fleurons in gilt corners, spine ribbed and decorated with fleur-de-lys, title coin in burgundy morocco, gilt edges, gilt inner wheel, marbled endpapers (period binding).
Original and unique edition, given on the occasion of the marriage by proxy of the eldest daughter of Louis XV (aged 12) to Philippe de Bourbon (aged 19), son of Philippe V of Spain and founder of the House of Bourbon-Parme.
Beautiful illustrations engraved with etching: large title vignette by Soubeyran after Bouchardon, large banner by Rigaud depicting the entire nautical joust, repeated letters, and 13 large plates, including 8 on double pages, drawn and engraved by J.-F. Blondel, professor at the Academy of Architecture, Gabriel, Servandoni... Among these, the illuminations and fireworks given on the Seine in front of the Louvre, the illuminated boats or even sections of the Paris City Hall building with ball scenes.
The festival took place on the Seine, between Pont-Neuf and Pont-Royal, and hosted ephemeral architecture, a nautical joust and, designed to be prolonged at night, competed in indoor and outdoor lighting effects, offered parades of illuminated boats and a long pyrotechnic show. The next day, a masked ball, held in the City Hall, transformed and "rebuilt" for the event, lasted from 10 pm to 8 am. A little later that same day, Louise-Élisabeth left her twin sister, her family and Versailles to join her husband in Spain where she remarried on October 30.
