Description
simili leather, spine gilt titled "Nederlandsche volksliedjes 17e-19e eeuw". In excellent condition.
Fascinating collection of Dutch songs on crime, love, politics, religion and events in Antwerp, Ghent, Louvain etc. Only a few with imprint, nearly always Ghent (often Van Paemel), and a single Antwerp one. Many texts are anonymous, but there are a number from the repertoire of travelling singers, i.a. P. Beeckaert (6), A. Andelof (4), J. de Mat (2). In the future it will be very difficult to find so many pieces in such a good condition.
