Description
bands (spine def., endpapers, clasps and catches gone), fore-edge titled, [8]-311-[1] ff. (some minor dampstaining and soiling, blank part of last f. torn off, bottom margins strengthened, tear in f. 263, stain partly erased on ff. 22v-223r). Very good rubricated copy.
Rare collection of 10 smaller religious treatises of Dionysius van Leeuwen or van Rijkel (1402-1471), prior of the Roermond Charterhouse, all listed on the title-page. On verso of the title a Latin poem by the humanist Franciscus Craneveldius (1485-1564). Title within elaborate woodcut border. Woodcut tailpiece. Woodcut mark at the end. Cont. inscriptions and name on title and at the end i.a. "F. Nicolaus Schafs a Rykel 1599" – "1598" at end). On the last p. a 10-line manuscript poem with Dutch and German proverbs : Inc. "Alder ayn weyssheyt’; Expl. ‘bringe(n) dir (…) vngeluck".
