Impressive 1st ed. printed in France and 1st ed. entirely printed in "Grecs du Roi" (but for the short Latin preface), of the writings of the Greek orator Demosthenes. The ed. was started by Guillaume Morel in 1558, interrupted by Morel's death in 1564, and finished by Bienné in 1570 and is based on the edition published in Basel (Hervage, 1532), corrected by G. Morel and J. Du Puys after comparison of 8 manuscripts of the Royal Library. "En 1558, Guillaume Morel commença un grand travail sur Démosthène; et, après sa mort, Denys Lambin l'acheva. Cette belle édition, est fort correcte, surtout dans la partie soignée par Morel" (Schoell). "C'est assurément l'édition la plus estimée de la Renaissance. Les Discours de Démosthène et la dédicace de Denys Lambin à Charles IX sont imprimés en Gros Romain 118. Les différentes "biographies" de Démosthène, par Plutarque, Lucien, Strabon, Diodore de Sicile, Pausanias, Aristide, etc., les Prolegomena d'Ulpien et le riche apparat critique entourant le texte de Démosthène sont en Cicero 80 (Schweiger, page 87 ; Schoell II, 259).
