Description
[60] lvs (copy slightly browned, some foxing, some marginal dampstains, one larger at lf. 238, corner renewed at lf. 60, some marginal tears, marginal handwritten note at lf. 118 and some underlinings). Modern emblazoned binding : vellum, gilt coat of arms on the boards, gilt decorated ribbed spine, red sprinkled edges (flyleaves renewed). Edition by the German humanist Johannes Caesarius (1 468-1 550) of the famous work of Plinius dealing with cosmography, geography, natural sciences, botany, medicine and mineralogy. Title within a richly decorated frame figuring Hercules' twelve labours; neat typography decorated with ornamental initial letters.
