some foxing, some pp. or plates slightly browned, some stains, some hand-numbered plates). 19th Century binding : threequarter sheepskin, marbled paper boards, ribbed spine, sprinkled edges (joints partly split, partly rubbed, lacks of paper, edges and corners very dulled, handwritten mention on the upper flyleaf). First and only edition of this work by the professor in physics Schinz (1734-1784). Illustrated with 95 subjects on 94 (on 100) nice hand-coloured plates by the orphans of Zürich, soms partly heightened with gum arabic. Those engravings were selected from the 512 woodcuts and printed from the original wood-blocks of the "Historia stirpium" of Leonhart Fuchs published in Basel in 1542. # Nissen, BBI, 1761 (mentions 1 table and 102 plates); # Priztel 8201 (100 plates). Unique édition originale illustrée de 95 sujets sur 94 (sur 100) pl. rehaussées, certaines part. gommées, reprises et gravées à partir des bois de l'"Historia stirpium" de Fuchs. Demi-basane à coins du 19e s. (5 pl. manquantes, qqs rouss., mors part. fendus, coupes et coins fort émoussés).
